Volunteer Ambassadors are needed on behalf of Special Olympics Florida for the 2018 Special Olympics Florida Fall Classic, part of the Annual Volunteers Calendar. Volunteers positions are available on Friday, November 9, 2018 and Saturday, November 10, 2018 for Team Softball, Meals, Opening Ceremonies, Healthy Athletes, and more.
Volunteer registration will open a few months prior to the event
Special Olympics Florida is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities to become physically fit, productive and respected members of society through sports training and competition. Special Olympics offers children and adults with intellectual disabilities year-round training and competition in 30 Olympic-type summer and winter sports. Volunteer Ambassadors must be at least 14 years of age. Volunteer Ambassadors under 18 years of age must have parental/guardian consent. Volunteer Ambassadors under 15 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Remember that children under the age of 15 are not allowed to volunteer or accompany you. You will be told on the event day that your services cannot be utilized if you have children younger than the eligible age with you. This is for the safety of your child and everyone else involved.
Volunteer Registration will open a few months prior to the event
Volunteer Ambassadors will receive confirmation of the shifts for which they have been scheduled. Confirmations will be mailed approximately 30 days prior to the event or emailed after that time. Confirmation will include further information on parking, directions, and other useful information.
Volunteer Ambassadors shifts and activities will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis. Although every effort will be made to accommodate your selection, the scheduling office reserves the right to schedule volunteers based on event needs, which includes placing volunteers on a waiting list. You will receive a confirmation packet closer to the event. Please refrain from requesting schedule changes until you receive your confirmation. Schedules are subject to change.
Note that there are separate waivers for adults and minors. Anyone age 18 or older must complete an adult waiver. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent or court appointed guardian complete a waiver for a minor.
